Approach to Counseling
I counsel primarily from an Internal Family Systems approach. In short, this means that internally we are all complex, made up of many parts. We might say, "Part of me really wanted to visit with that friend of mine, but another part of me was worried about the impact of the fight we had last week." I help you to sense and explore the different parts of you, even ones that might frustrate, perplex, or frighten you. In addition to parts, we all have a central or wiser Self that represents who you really are - the best You. Developing your access to this best You and developing your relationships with the different parts of you can result in parts calming down extreme feelings and behaviors.
